Hello...
(from your local music therapist)
My name is Rory Attwell, I'm a compassionate and dedicated music therapist based in Walthamstow, E17.
I graduated with a Music Therapy Master’s Degree from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge and am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
My Story and Approach...
After working as music producer and multi-instrumentalist musician for 20-years I decided to expand what I do musically and undergo psychodynamic music therapy training. Since then I've had the privilege of participating in diverse placements
From my background working with adolescents diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and younger children with behavioural challenges, facilitating social interaction, communication, sense of agency and emotional regulation through music therapy programs; to my experience working
with adults with mental health issues for the NHS East London Foundation Trust, witnessing the profound impact of music therapy on emotional expression, communication, and overall mental well-being. I've also gained valuable experience at a deafblind charity, fostering inclusivity and adapting therapeutic approaches for individuals with sensory impairments and complex disabilities.
With a deep belief in music as a universal language, I infuse playfulness, creativity and innovation into my therapeutic interventions, tailoring each session to meet the specific needs of the individual or group .
My passion lies in nurturing emotional growth and empowerment through music therapy, creating meaningful and transformative moments for those I work with.
